About
Shipbay is one page for everything you have built. It is run by one person, and it is small on purpose.
Why it exists
Every time I shipped something, I updated the same four places: the link in my bio, a portfolio site I had not touched in two years, a pinned post, and a message I sent someone once and could never find again. None of them were ever all correct at the same time.
The thing I wanted was not a website builder or a portfolio. It was one address that stays the same, with everything behind it, that takes a minute to update and no minutes to maintain. That is the whole idea.
The rules it was built to
Most decisions here came from deciding what Shipbay would refuse to do first, and building what was left.
- One page per person. Not a profile in a network. If nobody visits it but the people you send it to, it is working correctly.
- Nothing ranks anything. No feed, no trending, no upvotes, no follower count. There is no way to be doing badly at Shipbay, because there is no score.
- Your page is not live until you say so. Edits are a draft. Visitors keep seeing the published version until you press Publish, so a half-finished thought never goes out.
- Adding something should take seconds. Paste a link and the name and description are read from that site. You can rewrite either, but you should not have to start from a blank field.
- The numbers are for you. You see views, what people opened, where they came from and which countries. No visitor is identified, no IP address is stored, and no cookie is set on anyone reading your page.
- Anything you collect is yours. If you turn on the email box, that list is downloadable as a CSV from the first sign-up. It is not held hostage, and it is not mailed by us.
What it is made of
Next.js on Vercel, MongoDB for accounts and pages, Dodo Payments for payments, Resend for the few emails it sends. The typefaces are Fraunces and Inter. The harbour paintings are there because a bay is where things that have been built end up, and because a page full of your own work should feel like somewhere rather than like a dashboard.
There is no tracking script beyond a count of page views, no advertising anywhere in it, and nothing that would make your data worth more to somebody else than to you.
What it will not become
Shipbay is paid for by the people who use it, which means it does not have to grow into something else to survive. It will not get a feed, a ranking, a follower count, or an algorithm deciding who sees your work. Those are not features that have not been built yet. They are the ones it exists instead of.
What it gets next is decided by what people ask for. If something is missing for you, say so — that is the list I work from.
